Has anyone done it from Belem to Manaus or vice versa? Or even shorter distance...happy to get any information about boating on the Amazon
We are going to Amazonas in mid October for almost 2 weeks and want to do the boat trip from Belem to Manaus. What should we check when choosing a boat? Was it safe to sleep on the deck in hammocks? We are considering to take one cabin and 2 places on the deck because we are group of 4. Is it possible to lock up the cabins? Are they ensuite (probably stupid question :-))? We are a bit worried about the safety of the luggage and also about the meals that are included...are they safe? Heard they use water from the Amazon for cooking (funny...:-0)
A book guide says that it should take about 5 days. Is it real time or should we allow some extra day/s? Also is it true that once you make an arrangement you can stay over on the boat couple of days before starting the trip.

Reply to this hiya, im also heading to the amazon but abit sooner than you, im heading in 20th ish september, but yes have also had the same questions as you, im gutted you are all leaving later, i dont really fancy doing it on my own as a sole female travler, have you heard form anyone else hta is heading that way?
