Another photo uploading question

Fear of losing photos when uploading directly from Camera via USB
17 years ago, June 9th 2006 No: 1 Msg: #6089
One week from today I'm leaving for an 8-month stay in Europe. The first 3 months are essentialy backpacking through Eastern Europe followed by my fall semester in Spain. Obviously I'm going to be taking TONS of pictures, but despite reading the other posts on photo upload I still feel as though I'm somewhat in the dark with regards to getting them on my blog while traveling.

Are the photos uploaded directly from a camera via a USB cable consequently stripped from the memory card or are they merely quasi-duplicated? I feel like burning everything to CD's would get to be a pain since I'm carrying mostly 1 and 2Gig memory cards, but I'd do it if necessary.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer,

Jeff, we found we were able to put an amazing amount of photos onto a 2G card, as well as having a couple backups just in case(56MB to 1G). This is also with the understanding that we did not set our camera to the absolute best quality photographs. Mostly so that they would print out at great 4x6 and nice 5x8 but probably a little more iffy at larger size than that. Our experience was that the photos were not deleted unless you set it up to do so beforehand. You want to make sure, of course, on whatever hostel/internet cafe computer you're using. Hope this helps, and great travelling! Reply to this
