Since I will be so close to costa rica anyway, is it worth it to cross the border for a few days? I only have 10 days in nicaragua. Is there anything worth going out of my way to costa rica for?
I am considering visiting Costa Rica, but since I only have 10 days between flying in and out of Managua, I was wondering if it was worth it. So far on the itinerary is Granada, Rivas, Isla de Ometepe, San Juan del Sur. Any opinions?
I think that you will not have time to do anything else than the above in 10 days. If you spend 2 days in Granada and 3 days on Isla Ometepe and 3 days in San Juan del Sur, you will not have time to go anywhere else. I don't know how you are getting around, but to cover small distances took quite long in Nicaragua using chicken and minibuses. Even if you would have 3 weeks travel time, in my opinion it would not be worth to try to visit Costa Rica within this time frame.
Enjoy your trip!
Thanks for the advice! Yeah I guess trying to get to and from Costa Rica in such a short time frame is not worth it; seems like even crossing the border would take up a bit of time. I should really just absorb Nicaragua, so that answers it! Hopefully I will make it to Costa Rica in the future.
Do Nicaragua!!!!! Much cheaper and definately more real. Crossing the border is a pain and a great loss of time
