round trip ticket to managua for 10 days, is it worth it to visit costa rica?

Since I will be so close to costa rica anyway, is it worth it to cross the border for a few days? I only have 10 days in nicaragua. Is there anything worth going out of my way to costa rica for?

I am considering visiting Costa Rica, but since I only have 10 days between flying in and out of Managua, I was wondering if it was worth it. So far on the itinerary is Granada, Rivas, Isla de Ometepe, San Juan del Sur. Any opinions? Reply to this

Hi There

I think that you will not have time to do anything else than the above in 10 days. If you spend 2 days in Granada and 3 days on Isla Ometepe and 3 days in San Juan del Sur, you will not have time to go anywhere else. I don't know how you are getting around, but to cover small distances took quite long in Nicaragua using chicken and minibuses. Even if you would have 3 weeks travel time, in my opinion it would not be worth to try to visit Costa Rica within this time frame.

Enjoy your trip! Reply to this

Thanks for the advice! Yeah I guess trying to get to and from Costa Rica in such a short time frame is not worth it; seems like even crossing the border would take up a bit of time. I should really just absorb Nicaragua, so that answers it! Hopefully I will make it to Costa Rica in the future. Reply to this

Do Nicaragua!!!!! Much cheaper and definately more real. Crossing the border is a pain and a great loss of time Reply to this
