Hi Fellow travelers.
I am traveling to N.Vietnam in December. I want to do a Trek to Sapa and a boat tour of Halong BAy. I've heard that the best way to go is via a tour guide.
I've looked up on the tour guides on the web and I am overwhelmed by the pricing.
I am looking for recommendation of tour companies that other travelers have used. I am price conscientiou; however, I want to get a quality trip.
Do you recommend booking ahead or should I wait until I get there if so..any recommendations of good tour companies.
What's your experience?
Thanks-
Lynne
Reply to this Hi Lynne,
I haven't been to Vietnam so can't give exact advice. But my own experience is that if you have the time - you'll be able to get much better deals and an idea of the quality of the tour offered when you get to Vietnam rather than surfing the net.
But it might take a few days to do the hunting around, and getting a feel for the place. If you have no time - then something booked in advance on the net might be more appropriate.
Many Vietnam tours are listed here. Photos look nice 😊

Reply to this No need to book ahead- they are on every street corner on Hanoi. Do not go for the cheapest one!!! you truly get what you pay for. We opted for the 3 day trip to Halong Bay instead of the 2. we used one of the agency's listed in the lonely planet guide. they were great. i could probably pull it up if you need more info.
