I can only pick one of these two locations [Cusco or Ollantaytambo] to stay overnight in. Which would you suggest? What are the pros and cons?
If you had to choose between Cusco or Ollantaytambo to spend the night in, which would you choose? Additional recommendations for a hotel/hostel are also welcomed.
Travel: August 2009.

Reply to this It depends what you like, for example my brother went there last year and he stay in Ollantaytambo for one night just to take the first traing the next to day to be able to visit Machupicchu for the whole day.
He liked Ollantaytambo he said is a nice place to relax walk around a little bit and have a nice dinner.
But Cusco is more modern you can get pretty much any kind of food at night and near the main square there are really good peruvian food restaurants.
You can find some
Peru hotels and try
Cusco Hotels both are recommended hotels for cusco, they are not that expensive.
Reply to this Thanks for the input, Sarah! It definitely is much appreciated!
Reply to this I love Peru but I HATE Cusco.Everyone has nothing on their minds but $.Please ,if no1 listens to another word I type in this website, Maria if you only have 1 night spend it in Ollantaytambo.
Reply to this Hmmm...in that case, Olly does sound more appealing. Thanks for the advice, Paul. Cusco may be more of a tourist trap than I thought. Again, thanks!
Reply to this Hmm, going to have to disagree here! I loved Cusco when we were in Peru and we ended up staying there for quite a while. As long as you can say "no, gracias", noone hassles you too much. It has certainly got more life than Ollantaytambo. However, Ollantaytambo is a nice place too - just less going on and I would guess less accommodation/eating/sightseeing options.
Put it this way, I don't think you would regret staying in either place really!
Reply to this Yer I guess I am a grumpy old man.Just depends if you want to party with a bunch of other tourists or if you travel to experience life.I still hate Cusco.
Reply to this Erm, but I do travel to experience life, not to party with a bunch of tourists!!
