Hey guys,
Im heading to Rarotonga for a couple of weeks in September and am just after a few pointers or tips.

How much should i put aside for a budget... like accomodation, food etc.

Plus what are some fun activities and adventures people recommend for me to get up to, im open to try most suggestions.

Im a struggling student at the moment and am working pretty hard just to live and get by, so saving for this trip is proving to be a mission. Hence why i need to set myself a budget haha ahhh the life of a poor student aye😊

cheers guys

Hello Rikoh,

We went to Rarotonga last year in September... it is not a cheap place as it is very touristic... full of honeymooners!!

We stayed in Backpackers International and payed NZ $35 a night for a double room (shared with loads of ants!) which had only a bed a shelf, and you can use the kitchen. The owners were very friendly, but their granddaughter (who must be 5 now) lives there as well and... well, you must like kids, because she comes into the rooms and is always in charge of the DVD player in the common room, she was also playing with the batteries of our bike's rear lights, which was a bit annoying as they were dead when we needed them... We had a look at Rarotonga Backpackers when we were there and it looked much better than the International (they have a beachfront building and a hillside one with a swimming pool and only a few minutes away from the beach!), but I can't really say much as we didn't stay there...

There are lots of things to do there: there's only one road so most people rent a bicycle or motorbike to go around. Snorkeling, scuba diving, trekking... but be ready for the rain: we were there for a week and it was raining for 6 days!!!!!!!!

Hope it helps

Deni

P.S. Try and go to Aitutaki if you can... it's paradise, so much nicer and quieter than Rarotonga!!!!! Reply to this
