I'll be in Thailand for exactly a week and I'll be traveling by myself; I'm a 22 yr old female. Where should I go if I only have week? I love beaches, hate the tourist scene, but I don't want to be completely alone either. Any advice/suggestions? I was thinking Krabi or Ko Phangan with a few days in Bangkok.

Hello Dana 😊

It only takes a night and a few hours to get to most of the islands. You can take an over night bus and then a boat. So, a week is not too short to hit an island.

I havent been to Krabi, but I recommend Koh Pha Ngan.

The small islands like Ko Pi Yam, little Ko Chang, Ko Mak or Ko Jum might be what you are looking for. Reply to this

Well, you can also staying in Bangkok for couple days before goon the trip to the south. You can stay in the youth hostel where can be found in Khaosan road, Silom road .The place where i used to visit was which was very clean, reasonable price and save. You can stay together with somebody else who are female 4 -6 persons in a room or you if have more budget then, stay in 3 stars hotel where can be found in Pratunam area , Sukhumvit area or Silom road.

Thing to do in Bangkok , there are so many places for visiting such as Chatuchak market and tourists attractions. Moreover, you will be entertained by lot of shopping malls which are located surrounding the hotel. For example, M B K , Siam Paragon and Discovery center. For other things that you should do is finding some interesting Bangkok tours. There are so many things to do like Visiting Grand palace to see the most incredible workmanship of Thai architectures. You can find some more informations at

Hello Dana,

Head to the south of Thailand... I dont think so i will add more places than our friends did above ..

Mell has suggested Koh Pha Ngan but i think it's full of tourist ?Right Mell ?! if iam not mistaken it's the famous island for Full Moon Party ya ?!

If you want a place with less tourist and relaxed, i think you should take Kris recomendation. My self I have stayed in Ko Mak and i visited the small islands around Koh Muk, it's wonderful.

As i have not been to Koh Pha Ngna, i would recommend Koh Muk and the Small Islands.

Right Mell ?!

Yes, it has lots of tourists like most of Thailand. Thailand is not the country for those who want to escape from tourists. But some parts of the island can be very pleasant anyway. And yes, it is famous for the full moon parties. If you want to avoid lots and lots of tourists, dont go there during full moon time.

I think islands with very few tourists are more complicated to get to and accomodation on them is more expensive. No 4 Euros per night beach huts where there are not enough backpackers.

Humm ,, I dont remmber how much we paid !!! we were 3 and we shared one room. If iam not mistaken maybe around 7 - 10 USD but the guest house we managed to find a room on it was at the back, not infront of the beach. but it's just few seconds walking 😊 Reply to this

hi there,

I think Kao San Road is a good location to find accomodation and tour if you are in a budget. It is about 20 mins walk to the Grant Palace and th canal.

I guess you have already left but my suggestion would be fly to Krabi $50 US then onto Ao Nang.
Access to many islands, day or overnight, not many Ferang and great prices.

Found it to be very safe and friendly. Reply to this
