Travelling to Seim Reap with Globalteer and then onto Thailand. First time travelling alone so advice is wecomed.
Hey,
I am planning a trip out to Seim Reap in January for 3 months with an organisation called Globalteer. Does anyone know about them and the work they do? I am also travelling out alone and just wondered if anyone had any advice for a young female (I am only 21) travelling alone for the first time? I am hoping to go onto Thailand afterwards for a month or so although I have not yet booked anything. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I don't know much about Globalteer. Are you planning to do one of their teaching English/orphanage projects? If so, are you aware that you can do it direct with the organisation, so you only have to pay for accomodation?
The link is on here, under classifieds.
Reply to this My 17-year-old daughter will be living in Siem Reap for several months starting in late September. If you're interested in emailing her or meeting up while you're there, send me a private message and I'll give you her email address.
You'll certainly have a great adventure! I'm curious - how did you choose Siem Reap as the place you wanted to go?
Reply to this Hello Ellie;
Siem Reap is a nice place to be visit as a tourist but i dont know how it will be when u will stay for 3 months. Iam sure you find friends and you will enjoy visiting new places near by Siam Reap.
There is no speical advice to you, but in general you should always be careful and dont walk around alone at late night, dont take big amount of cash with you in your pocket. I used travel chqs while i was there. during my visit in 2005, i think there was no ATM machine over there. Only in Phnom Phen and it was very new.
Try to see as much as you can, My self i have been to Phnom Phen and SihanoukVille in the south (Beautiful Beaches) beside Siam Reap.
Wish you a lovely holiday;
peace out.
Reply to this Plenty of ATMs in Siem Reap now! They seem to be on every corner.
Reply to this Thanks guys, in reply to your post jessw I chose Siem Reap as I am interested in doing some voluntary work with children and Siem Reap looks like it has some very worthwhile charities working to improve childrens lives. There looks like there is a lot of need out there and I would love to help make a difference.
