Anyone have feedback on GAP trips to Peru?

How was your GAP trip Delhi to Goa? My son took this trip with a bunch of friends (from Canada). I was a bit concerned because of some comments I had seen on GAP but they all said the trip was "awesome!". They are now talking about going to Peru with GAP. Anyone have feedback on GAP trips to Peru? dad. Reply to this

I definitely wouldn't recommend GAP for Peru - they were dreadful. Even the guide that took us on the trek said they weren't even in the top 5 of ones he would recommend which says it all really. Everything was cheap and nasty even the horses looked half starved. I only wished I had done my homework before I travelled with them. But then again they tell you anything to make the sale. Never again. Reply to this

I had a great experience with General Tours in Peru. The itinerary was top notch and the guides were outstanding. I went with General Tours again to Romania and Bulgaria with the same outstanding results. They're a bit pricey but they keep the group numbers very small and the service is outstanding. We went with GAP to Peru several years ago (2002) and had a wonderful time. The group was small, the hotels were locally-owned, but clean and comfortable. Our guide was great, and we had a very nice time. We're headed there again with them soon....I can post an update when we get back to tell you our experiences with a more recent trip.

The first trip we did Lima to Cusco, worked our way to Machu Picchu by way of the Inca trail and then back to Cusco. Then we went to Puno and Lake Titicaca and from there to La Paz, Bolivia.

This second trip covers the upper Amazon, Nazca Lines, Machu Picchu again and Lake Titicaca again, with some other stops in between. Reply to this

GAP are poor value for money, your son will be safe - but ripped off. They cancelled a lot of our hotel nights for extra camping (just what you need 1 nights in a row of being bitten by spiders and mossies with no hot water to wash) Dont get me wrong, Im spending 12 nights camping in buda pest next week.. but I havent paid £1550 For the priviledge! also our tour guide seemed to spend the budget for the included meals on his beer fund. So ur son may come back a lot poorer than planned! In all its not dangerous to go with gap, just uncomfortable and a waste of money. Reply to this
