I live at 400km from Buenos Aires and I travel there quite often. I usually go to The Cavern, it´s a place where you can have something to eat (pizzas, picadas, sandwiches, a beer, etc.) and listen to live music. Nice atmosphere. Downtown area, on Corrientes Avenue in the Paseo La Plaza.
Buenos Aires is full of places to eat and have a nice time.
In the pedestrian Lavalle there is a famous place called Los Inmortales: excellent.
Walk and find your own place. Have a great time.
Graciela, from Argentina.

if you want to eat healthy and inexpensive there are some nice all you can eat buffets near plaza constitucion.
particularly on the street between the "plaza constitucion" and "avenida 9 mayo" some even serve sushi, my fave is in the plaza itself, and is called "buena suerte". 18 pesos for all you can handle. (thats about 4 dollars US)

the nightlife is legendary and goes on very late ! take a nap in the early evening to conserve your energy.
to me it seemed quite safe to go out at night in buenos aires, however i would not recommend walking around BA in shorts and flipflops or anything which screams tourist, especially at night. bag snatchings and muggings are common. i preferred to take taxi which turned out to be safe.

also avoid getting lost in places like "la boca" neighbourhood with your bags on you. its common to be robbed there too. Reply to this
