Hi everyone, i'm going on July to Berlin with a friend, where we're going to be around 3 days (we're arriving to Berlin around July 2nd) . So, i was wondering which are the best places to visit, and what things to do during our stay.
We don't like that much the idea of going to museums and stuff like that. We like walking around the city, going to parks, walkways, etc. So, would anyone tell me which places are cool to visit?
Also, we would like to know something about partying there, what kind of clubs are more common, the music they play, how to dress up, how much the entrance costs, and stuff like that.

Thanks!! Reply to this

Hello Sebastian 😊

One of my favourite things to do in Berlin is to go up the TV tower and watch the sunset. They have a bar up there and close at midnight. So if it is the weekend, I stay until midnight and then go and enjoy the Berlin nightlife. Public transport goes all night at the weekend, so you can stay out as long as you like. It costs arouind 15 Euros to go up the TV tower.

Museums: The ones I went to see are the one at Check Point Charlie about the Berlin wall, the jewish museum and there is another outdoor museum at another point along where the Berlin wall used to be. I think it is called Topography of Terrror and is about the Nazi years.

If I remember rightly, 5 Euros is the most I ever payed to get into a club in Berlin. Those were heavy metal places. I dont know what the other clubs are like or what they cost.

hi ch1n0 - Berlin is a great city for just walking around - even though there's lots of museums, that's not all there is to do. The Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor) is a must see - it's right in the centre at the top of the road "Unter den Linden" so definitely have a walk down there. The Jewish memorial and the Reichstag (German parliament) are there too. Have a walk through the Tiergarten if you like parks, and a little further afield is Treptow park which has a massive memorial to the Soviet Union - it's really really worth a visit as it's pretty impressive (and huge). I think you'll like Potsdamer Platz with the ultra-modern Sony Centre too.

For clubs you HAVE to go to the Bang Bang Club - it's right near the S-Bahn station Hackescher Markt so it's really easy to get to - it's quite indie...bands and djs play there so you could have a look and see if anyone worthwhile's there when you're visiting. We paid 5 euros entry and there's no dress code. Trust me it's worth a visit! Reply to this

hey! I'm in Berlin right now, and loving it! There is SO MUCH to see, and tomorrow is my last day. You could check out my blog to see what I did but I reccommend taking a boat tour where you see most of the city from the water, going to the East Side Gallery, the Berlin Zoo (adorable animals and a nice place to go for a walk), Checkpoint Charlie (and the museum), The Reichstag, and just.. taking it all in and enjoying it! I'm considering coming back some day, maybe for good! Reply to this

you should try out the free walking tours in Berlin that start at starbucks next to the brandunberg gate in the main square. the guides are from all over the world and are very funny and knowledgable in Berlinds history. they take you around the city showing you and telling you about its history and points of interest. there is also the option to pay for the 3rd reicht tour (maybe not spelt correct) which takes you around the areas specific to Nazi occupied germany. this tour covers much the same as the free one but with more information on things that relate to Nazi germany. once you have seen everything you can obviously go back and see things in more detail by yourself though the free tours are a great way to find your way about the city and see all points of interest.

the same group offers a bar crawl which goes through some points and clubs and finishes in a large night club. if i remember right this cost either 10 or 15 euros though it was free beer for 2 hours in the first bar and all entry to the clubs were free. i would recommend this as there were around 30 people of different nationalities getting drunk and enjoying Berlin. good times 😊 Reply to this

Berlin is fantastic city, wether you are there for partying, og just going to see some of the citys attractions. Alot of very great places have already been mentioned, but I got a couple of extra places that are most definetly worth seeing.

1. The Mauer Park, or in english The Wall Park. The place is a park where the old Berlin wall used to run directly through, but after the fall of the wall, the area was coonverted into a park. In the park you can still see some of the old Berlin wall. Alot of diffrent events is going on in the park, and every sunday, there is a big flea market. A market where people come, put up a stall and sell all kinds of diffrent stuff. Also, specialy in the summer months, you can often run into some kind of street party, with music and diffrent things happening. Very Nice place. (It's in the Prenzlaurberg area of Berlin)

2. Köpi - In Berlin there have been a big squatter culture up through the 80's and 90's, and today there is huge amount squatted buildings, movie theatres, art shows, bars cooperatives and alot more around the city. One of the biggest is a huge house called köpi, besides the house there is a trailer park with alot of people living in it. The house is occupied (actualy it have just been legalized) by anarchists. There's alot of diffrent things going on in the house all the time, and definetly worth a visit, if you find the alternative sides of the big citys interesting, anyhow!
There is lots of places like that in Berlin, if any of you are interested in those kinds of places, give me a heads up, and I can give you a large amount of adresses and more details about the places :D People are very friendly at the places, and you don't have to be a punker, or political active or anything to visit the places ;D Reply to this

I would greatly recommend Clärchen's Ballhaus. http://www.ballhaus.de/
it's on 24 August strasse in mitte. an amazing venue opened 1913. the interior is intact with bullet holes on the mirrors left from the 2 WW. Go upstairs and dance in the Spiegelsaal.

Kreuzberg is a nice area with plenty of cafes and vintage shops and a great market near Mehringdamm U- Bahn open saturdays. this is my favorite cafe http://www.luzia.tc/ but plenty more on the same street.

good luck and have fun. Reply to this

There are advertisements for different types of tours in the hostels in Berlin. Two that spring to mind that I rememember seeing adds for are the 'walking tour' and the 'pub crawl'. I think the walking tours probably take in the site where the Berlin wall was was and tell you about the history.

If you are interested in history, there is a lot of WW2 memorobelia to check out.

That would probably be Curry Wurst(curry sausage). You will see it for sale in a lot of little German fast food places. I dont know where the actual best one would be found in Berlin. Usually the Curry seller also sells french fries which go nicely with the Curry Wurst.

If you are in Berlin at the weekend, be sure to take part in the night life. It is one of the best places to be for it in Europe. And the public transport goes all night in Berlin, on Friday and Saturday nights so you wont need to worry about not being able to get back to the hostel.

When I am in Berlin, I usually stay in the Helter Skelter hostel. But if quietness is important to you, it probably isnt the place for you.
