Spending a week in Nice...where to spend second week.
15 years ago, March 25th 2009 No: 1 Msg: #67044
Hi

We are flying return to Nice for our honeymoon in June. We have a very kind offer of an appartment in Nice for the second week but are wondering how to fill the first week.

We are not ones to sit still for too long or lie on beaches all day but as it's our honeymoon we would like a little bit of luxury.

So far our research has concluded that either Corsica or Genoa and surrounding areas might be good spots to spend a week.

Does anyone have any information on these areas or any other suggestions of areas easily reached from Nice.

Many Thanks

Hello EdAm 😊

You could check the Corsica and Genoa sections of the TravelBlog database for blogs.

ooh i love corsica so I'd pick there! It's true you can relax on the beach all day, but there's lots of other stuff to do as well so you don't get bored...it does get busy in the Summer months, but in June it shouldn't be at its worst, so to speak.

There are actually lots of walking trails around the island, so if you like hiking you could always do that. The GR 20 is prob the best known; there's ones which go coast-to-coast across the island (Mare e Mare) and the ones from the sea up to the mountains (Mare e Monti) too.

Back to the beach, you could always try snorkelling or wind-surfing if you're even more adventurous!

There's actually sightseeing on the island too - the main cities Ajaccio, Calvi , Bastia etc have a lot to offer. Although bear in mind public transport is..minimal to say the least...so the best way to get around would be to rent a car. Also make sure you book everything in advance - esp the ferry to Nice - as it all gets booked up really quickly. Reply to this

Hi Glammakid,

Thanks for the ideas...we were starting to swing towards the Cinque Terre but your comments might put Corsica back in the frame.

Many Thanks
