Warranty suit Australia

If I was to Buy a good SLR digital Camera in Thailand would it have a valid warranty in Australia. Also would it be compatible with our power etc. If all is good, any suggestions on where to buy. Thanks

Make sure you have some prices of the same cameras that are on sale in your country for comparison.

If you have the real item and not a "look-a-like knock off" the warranty may be recognized back home.
Do your homework first before you leave home. If the camera is really expensive and perhaps prone to needing some repairs or adjustments I would just get it at home and be certain!

Panthip Plaza on Phetchaburi Road, Lotus Tesco, Carrefour and Bic C malls might have some good prices. Know what you want and have a price list from back home.

Good luck.

It would be good to seek out the manufacturer's policy before you buy. The warranty might be valid, but I have been cautioned by the local storekeeper in my hometown that e.g. Canon Sweden sometimes insist defective gear needs to be sent for repairs to the country where it was purchased rather than to the domestic service center.

And as Sir Halberd points out, do your homework properly before leaving. Camera gear is not cheap in Thailand these days. Last I checked the prices in Bangkok were on par with, or over the Swedish market prices. You might get a better deal in Hong Kong. Also don't forget to be on the lookout for favourable deals on your domestic market. Reply to this
