Hello Luis 😊

How many days do you need to see Rome? Well, the more days you are in a place the more you get to know it and the more people you meet so the more you get out of it. But a few days is a nice amount of time to spend walking around the old part of Rome. Get a map soon after you get there. They are usually available for free at hostels and hotels. Maybe you can get one at the tourist office at the airport.

I think you might be able to get a direct train to Venice from Rome. To get to Capri you would take a train to Naples and then a boat to the island.

There is a direct train from Rome to Venice, Rome to Florence, Rome to Pisa. Last time I was there, we took the train to Pisa, then just a short train ride onwards to Florence. From Florence, we took the bus to Siena and San Gimigniano. Or you may want to go straight from Rome to Venice instead. That is possible too.

Another time, we just drove from Rome to Pompeii, Positano, Sorrento and from there, a boat ride to Capri. But I worry you don't have much time to visit all these beautiful places in 6 days. You may just want to concentrate your holiday in Rome. Spent 11 days there last time and didn't run out of things to do and visit. Maybe basing yourself in Rome, you can do day trips to Sorrento/Positano, where you can take a boat to Capri. Reply to this

No more than one day in Venice and one other for Capri. You can save valuable time travelling by train in night hours.
The rest should go to Rome and - may I recommend - Florence, which is the best of the best of this fantastic country.

Seems a doable schedule to me:
3 days in Rome
1 in Florence
1 Venice
1 Capri Reply to this

I would agree with the message above: I've been to Rome and Venice and you will need 3 days to appreciate Rome properly and Venice can struggle to take any more than two days at most...

Hi! I'm italian and i'm happy that you have chosen Italy for your vacation! I suggest you to stay not less than 3 nights in Rome, because here there are so many things to see and to do. Capri is amazing, but it is not so easy to reach from the capital. I suggest you to visit Ponza, which is a little island, a real pearl in the Mediterranean, not very well known by turists...it's simply fantastic! You can reach it taking a train from Rome to Anzio (1 hour), and a ferry (1 hour) from Anzio to Ponza.
If you prefer something different i suggest you to go to Costiera Amalfitana (Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento). These little towns by the sea are really impressive!! It's no far from Rome, and you can take a train (about 3 hours).
If you need help, please write me, and visit my web site dedicated to Rome and Italy. (<snip>😉
Bye!
