So far, I know it is New Years day in Vietnam and China. There are probably other countries starting their new year today.

Would those who know which countries those are fill in the gaps. Reply to this

It's a big day in Malaysia - though 2009 started a few weeks ago.

One wonderful thing about Malaysia is any reason for a holiday is a good reason. National holidays include - New Year, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Hari Raja (Islamic holiday - couple of times!), Deepawali (Hindu), and many more that sneak up on me. Reply to this

Happy Australia day to you and all other Australians reading!

You will have to persuade somebody/bodies in Japan that they should celebrate with you. 😉

They had an event on the weekend. During the week isn't usually practical in rural Japan given the driving distances - and the zero tolerance drink drive laws.

I get an extra dose with Waitangi Day (NZ) on 6 February :-) Reply to this

You could add to the list Vietnam, Taiwan, Macau, HK and Singapore...but China most likely is the place to be if you wish to experience 2 weeks of non stop fireworks (well..at least shanghai...getting fireworks bumping against my windows as I write this message...) Xin Nian Kuai Le! Reply to this
