Hello Anju 😊

I am not sure how long it would take for you to drive to Florence. Since you will be in Italy out of the tourist season it may be an opportunity to see Florence while it is not so crowded there.

Hi Mel,

I checked on Google maps and it says it's about a 3 hour drive from Milan to Florence. It's totally fine with us. My husband has to work in Milan for 2 days so we have Saturday and Sunday as free days. Would anything be open on Sunday in Florence? Reply to this

Florence is packed with beautiful buildings and art galleries.

I made this thread so everyone can help make a list of the best things you can do on your trip to Florence Anju. Hopefully they will recommend restaurants and nice authentic hotels to stay in too. Reply to this

Hi Mell, Florence is sooooo beautiful, I stayed at Pisa, and spend a whole day walking the streets and loved every minute of it. You have so many things to see and do, its endless. You have the usual Michaelangelo statue (Accademia museum) which is 10 Euro's to go into to see, Uffizi with the amazing Italian paintings, Piazza del Duomo which is the first thing you see if you walk into the city centre (Amazing architecture and detail), the shopping district is just on the side at Piazza della Republica, but the stalls are much more bustling.

Dont forget to see Ponte Vecchio which is indoors (Bridge with shops) and when at Uffizi, you'll notice the huge statue with a fountain. I didnt cross the Arno river to see the gardens as it was raining but that is also an option.

The info centre is along Via Cavour where the banks are located also, its right next to the Palazzo Medici Riccardi building, you know about the Medici family??

History history history, much of it and so busting its funky!!!

Hope this helps, oh yeah theres also a Michelin star restaurant there too!!!

ps - Santa Maria Novella is the train station which is so convenient if you dont end up driving.. Reply to this
