Best time of the year for trekking?
15 years ago, December 30th 2008 No: 1 Msg: #58556
Hi, I have heard a few different months given for the best months to trek in Nepal and in particular Everest Base Camp. Would love some clarification on this as we are looking to do the trek in March/April.

Thanks in advance for your help. Reply to this

That should be pretty good season to do it. Generally best months are april/may & october november. But disadvantage of it is main trails packed with tourists.

The best time to visit Nepal depends on what you wish to do there. The best months for walking in the mountains are April, May, October and November. The weather is good during the day and the temperatures do not drop as rapidly during the night. After the monsoon, the air is clear, leaving the spectacular snow-covered mountain tops clearly visible. The monsoon season (July and August) is not suitable for hiking in the mountains, as the paths become muddy and slippery and the mountains become almost impossible to see. From October until the middle of March, it is dry and sunny. It can be cold during the night, but as soon as the sun comes up it quickly becomes pleasantly warm again.

God luck

Hi,
although in Nepal we love to promote tourism tourism throughout the year, the best season considered are Spring and Autumn. So it should be very nice for you to come here on March / April.
The only thing as said above Marcin, the high seaseon also means a lot of fellow travellers and sometimes even the local guesthouses are packed along the trail, which was the case specially the autumn season of 2008.
Best regards,

Hi,I trekked to Everest Base Camp and Kalapatar in 2007.I chose the Fall, late September is a bit iffy weather wise..I only hit one day of rain the rest of the time was perfect.I followed the weather for about a month and it was all bad including the 10 day forecast before i left. But it was completely wrong..two reasons I chose this time period was #1 it was about the time the monsoons were ending and #2 it was right before the high season started. On the way up I had the trail all to myself and the way back it was like the morning rush hour going the up.So try this trek at the end of September to the first week of October. If you need a good guide I have keep in contact with mine..he is the best,he took care of me like I was one of his family.Let me know if you need more info.Best regards,Stanley Reply to this
