India! Incre-dile India...

Anyone fancy Turkey and Thali at the Taj (Mahal that is).

Rendevous Agra on 25th, 26th or 27th.

Haven't a clue where, how, why or when but drop us a message if you fancy meeting and we'll put something together.

I will be in Agra on the 25th. It would be nice to meet you, Vik and Bob.

At the moment, the best I have come up with is the roof top restaurant of the Shanty Lodge, because it has a view of the Taj Mahal. Some of the fancier hotels have restaruants with a view of the Taj too but they seem a bit too formal and rigid for us(me and my boyfriend). We are looking for someplace relaxed, with a Taj view but with nicer restaurant than the Shanty Lodge(because it is Christmas!). Anyone got suggestions?

By the way, we will have a particularly unruly 8 year old in tow, so if you are not keen on kids then we are not the people to meet up with. 😊

Mel,

Never having been to Agra I'm a little in the dark about venues so I'm quite happy to make it the rooftop of the Shanty Lodge - and if it's got Taj views that's even better.

Shall we say 7:30pm?

Age is not a concern. As I have the mental age of an 8 year old your son should fit in fine.

Not sure how visable the Taj is after dark, but this is OK for us because we will be popping in and out of the Shanty Lodge at various times, because I think it may be a regular backpackers haunt in Agra. We might even be staying there because they have good priced rooms and some may also have a view of the Taj. So 7.30PM Chirstmas day it is, unless you decide you would prefer earlier for a better view.

As I have the mental age of an 8 year old your son should fit in fine.

I will bring enough toys for both of you then. :D

Hi Ali and others in KL! Enjoy tonight at Madam Kwans, Pavilion. Was gonna drop by - but - family, xmas rush and this being my hometown means it's all a little chaotic at present. WILL try much later tonight if you're still there... 😊 Reply to this

London is cancelled due to lack of interest. I can't believe there are no travelbloggers in southern England at the moment, so the idea of a meal with me must have scared people away. Maybe next year...

On the evening of the 14th we had a low key get together - which is the intention 😊 - Marcoelitaliano on a Thai visa run, SniffandSnore, myself and two friends new TB members - Nicky and Andy - made the evening enjoyable and interesting - much advice and stories swapped.

Let us know how the other gatherings proceed 😊 - shame you couldn't make it Shireen - next time? Reply to this

Well, dont cancel yet. I dont think London would be a hot backpackers destination(with so many Londoners going home to their families and so many places closing. It would make it a lonely Christmas travel destination.) but there might be some takers. Reply to this

Bob, the good news is we will be able to see the Taj, from the rooftop restaurant of the Shanty Lodge after dark. Somebody showed me a photo of it taken from there at night. 😊

Hey Jonathan, no takers in Brisbane, Australia either. No-one being in Brisbane for Christmas isn't really a surprise (many locals leave the city during tha time) but I would think that at least someone would pass through London. Perhaps the Travelbloggers in that part of the world are a little shy.

Offers are still open for Brisbane if anyone is nearby. Perhaps I can bribe people by offering some of my home-made chocolate caramel slice to attendees?! Reply to this

I would have to take a pretty long flight to get one of those caramel slices, just how good are they? Reply to this

There's been no interest in an Auckland get-together - are they worth a 3 hour flight.....? ;-) Reply to this

Hey Jo - how about making it a longer flight and dropping into India for a few hours - we've got a years worth of travel related chat to catch up on?

Mell, I thought they might light it up. Who needs a Christmas tree when you've got the Taj Mahal lit up in front of you! Looking forward to it.
