We're considering traveling to Indonesia in January. I know there are threats being sent to US and Aus. embassies. Is it serious enough to warrrant concern about safe travel? Reply to this

I think the only replys you will get here will be from those who have traveled indonesia and had a safe visit. I wouldnèt change my plans to go to Indonesia after the recent threats myself, but when i do go next year I will stay up to date with the changing situation and excersise caution while i am there (maybe i wonèt go to night clubs ect.)

I think all you can do is make informed decisions for yourself and not put yourself in dangerous situations. Reply to this

hay... i understand your concerns, i have travelled indo and had a brilliant time, i was there when the tsunami hit and as you can understand the counrty was in a fair amount of turmoil then, however the indo people are fantastic and very very polite and helpful, unless you break the law i doubt you will have any trouble what so ever out there....

Please be aware of pick pokets tho where ever you travell! darn guys got my passport and hotle room key, after a small struggle and a number of young kids jumping me and beating me up a bit... i had to spend a night in indo hospital which was clean and welcoming...

after returning to the hotel i had nothing left! litterally nothing, NB next time i will take the fob off the key which identifies the hotel... my insurance wouldnt cover the loss of my belongings and so on my return i had to utilise a holiday claim company for my belongings and also tagged on injuries accumulated whilst there

not all bad tho i helped with the rebuild and met some wonderful people!

hi waxfish...

I think lately there's no threats again at Indonesia.

But first, u must concerns about the weather, coz lately there's lots of windy rain . Better stay out of places with lots of trees, coz many of them can colapse anytime ( Jakarta )

enjoy indonesia ^^

Thanks Peanuts,

Our plans are to land in Jakarta and then fly straight out to either Kalimantan or the Nusa Tengarra area. We're very much hoping for good diving and hiking weather.

Thanks for the feedback. Reply to this

Waxfish ,

U should try Lombok, an island near Bali. It have a beautiful sea for diving. From Lombok you can go to an island again for an half hour trip by boat ( sorry, i forgot the name ), which also have a good sea.

Enjoy your trip

Hi Tim,

for a diving spot, there are many beautiful ones Indonesia can offer. one of them is the one in East Kalimantan called Pulau Derawan!

Cheers,
