Why not try bartending? The money in bartending over here in America is not too bad, certainly enough to live on, and I'm thinking I'll continue in that profession when I get to Australia this summer. Do you have any idea how bartenders do over in Melbourne, as that's where I'll be? Reply to this

I know this is an old post that I'm replying too, but I wanted to point out that bartending in the US will fetch you far more than it would here in Australia, since we dont tip here in Oz. I was in the states and know that bartenders can do AMAZINGLY well in the right area's.....well here, you're far less likely to make anything substantial, but you might make enough to get by if you're doing things on the cheap. Bedgod, you can do just about anything on a working holiday....some of the best money to be made at the moment is in abbatoirs! If slicing and dicing is your thing then you're set.

Hi Devon, The best thing you can do is go to the following sites for visa information and employment. http://www.visabureau.com/australia/working-holiday-visa.aspx and definately go to this site www.seek.com.au This is a huge job listings site so you can browse and find out exactly what your earning capacity will be in whatever work will suit you.
