Dental Tourism, Bangkok?

My teeth need work. Has anyone had dental work done in Bangkok. Were you satisified with the results? What would you say are the pros and cons of having dental work done in Bangkok?

Hi Shan

My boyfriend and I had basic dental work done in Cambodia, and it was a far better service than some places in the UK. Especially the cost. $10 to refill a rather large filling and $10 for me to have a full clean. The practise was clean and sterile. And many months later Stus filling is still in good shape with no problems.

Hi Shan,
When we were in Bangkok last January '08 we had dental cleanings done at the Silom Dental clinic.
Very professional and very reasonable, about $40US. Most of the customers in the entrance lobby were expats.
Highly recommend. www.silomdental.com
While there, we also had health checkups and I had sinus surgery at the Bumrungrad Hospital. Excellent treatment.

I had a dental checkup done in Chiangmai earlier this year. Can't remember the exact price, but it was cheap. Facilities were excellent.

If their dental work is anything like their eye doctors, I'd highly recommend it. I had Lasik done prior to the start of my trip last year and went for a follow-up exam in Bangkok. The place was impressive.

I couldn't help but to notice an inordinate amount of dentists in Chiang Mai. Seems like there was one on every block. Has anyone else noticed this? Reply to this

Yes, I walked past a few in Chiang Mai before choosing mine - most of the ones I walked past had full waiting rooms, and I wanted to get an idea of prices before I chose one.

Was more than happy with the one I chose - not sure why there was no queue there :-) Reply to this

I just left Chiang Mai and will be returning there in about a month. I used Funsabi dental clinic and was delighted with the price and service. I'm 46 years old and this is the BEST dental treatment I have ever received.

I had a cleaning, filling, Laser whitening and a porcelian crown done dirt cheap. Reply to this

Anyone know about how much it would cost to get two cavities handled in either Chiang Mai, Bangkok, or Siem Reap Cambodia?? Reply to this

I paid 500 Baht ($15.00USD) for a filling at Funsabi in Chiang Mai. Prices are a little better in Chaing Mai than Bangkok. Reply to this

Haven't had work done in Bangkok, but - as mentioned above - have heard Chiang Mai is the cheaper of the two. Reply to this

One really nice clinic in BKK is Thai Smile Dentists in the Times Square building across from Robinsons Dept store at Asok Station on the BTS skytrain. Get off the train and walk down the walkway in the direction of Robinson's. The walkway goes into the second floor of Times square on the left and if you go down the escalator to the first floor, the clinic is there.

I had broken a tooth in Bangladesh and the temp filling fell out. So when I was in BKK I had the tooth crowned by Dr. Joy at Thai Smile. She did an fantastic job, saved the tooth, and worked her schedule around mine to get it done. THe price was about 25% of what I would have had to pay in the USA. I know that they also do whitening and all other kinds of dental surgery. Talk to them if you have extensive repairs, coz I know that they will make you a good price. Thai craftsmanship with English speaking dentists in a really conveniant location on Sukhamvit. Reply to this

I have done 6 implants at BIDC Bkk, laser whitening, and fillings. Great work and competitive prices, no hidden fees. My implant surgeon was Dr Chactchai, super qualified and English speaking.
BEWARE OF DOCTOR LILLY, A SCAM ! She has a clinic on Sukhumvit.
BIDC Dental is easy to find and near MRT train station. Reply to this

I had my root canal treatments (twice) in Thantakit Dental Bangkok two years ago. My dentist was very polite and clearly told me what was needed to be done, as opposed to the couple places I've been to which were too pushy for an up-sell. The place caters to expats and I was pretty impressed by their building and facilities. Reply to this
