Hi.
I will be arriving in Peru around late January-early Feb and really want to see Machu Picchu. I know the classic Inca Trail is closed in February but I am struggling to find a definate answer as to whether the Salkantay Trail is also closed then.
Some websites say it is closed December-March but I have read other websites that say that there are departures in Feb.
Hope someone can help.

Reply to this The Salkantay or the Lares are open in Feb. It is just the classic that is closed. You don't need to book months in advance for these eithier. As for a tour company try www.peruandeanexperience.com It is a new company run by a friend of mine, he is excellent and he has a lot of experience on these 2 treks.

Reply to this Make sure you don't book till you reach Cusco, as you'll get a far better price that way. Aim to pay no more that 180 USD per person.
