Am planning a trip to Barcelona for a week in October.

Am staying alone so am looking for affordable, safe, nice place to stay.
Just wondering if anybody heard of RESA? www.resa.es
There\'s this place called Campus del Mar Residence Hall - am thinking of staying there but before I book - would like to ask if anybody stayed there and would recommend it?
I am attending a conference in CCIB as well, so preferably will be easy to get there.

The prices between a hotel and hostels differ so much - is it really worth it to go for a hotel?
Very confused - would like to be near CCIB and yet would like it to be easy to walk around the places when i do some sightseeing later... any compromised recommendations? Reply to this

Hi

I stayed in a hostel a couple of times off La Rambles and loved it. I was in walking distance to the beach, shopping and the sites. I would have a look for somewhere around that part. The area where I stayed also had restaurants with great food at reasonable prices. Reply to this

I stayed for 5 days in Barca in a hostel in Las Ramblas which was quite close to the shopping area as well as Port Vell. It was very convenient, clean, and secure. Might be worth checking:

I was in Barcelona at this summer. At first I was nervous because I have never booked an apartment from internet. And also I did not know what I will receive. Contact persons were very kindly and helpful. I was lucky because I had a holiday with a group of friends. We rented an apartment in Arc de Triompf, in the center of Barcelona, because of well communicated. We did not need too much time to see all sightseeing. This apartment was well equipped, furnished and very clean. The important point is we could accommodate all together. I truly recommend this for everyone for having a best holiday.

hello,

if your travel budget is 100 euros per night, dont worry, you can find many good hotel in Barcelona...if your travel budjet for accommodation is 20-30 euros per day, rent a room...my girlfriend and i spent 8 hours to find hostel by 20-30 euros in Barcelona downtown, it was unpossible. On Ramblas and placa Cataluna the cheapest hostel is 60 euros for the room which you share with minimum 4 people. Very durty and noizy, it is unpossible to sleep there an hour. I found my room for rent through internet ,here is the contacts of the landlady, while you will be searching the apartment for rent, you can stay at one of her rooms (separate) in the city centre by 20 euros: To eat - taste tortilla patatas and la poella, tapas. Places to visit - everything which has the conneccion with Gaudi and barri Gothic. You will find everything yourself when you will be there...

Bread: Baguette could be 39cents or 52 cents or 55 cents, Loaf could be 85cents, ·1.20, ·2.00, Bread Rolls could be 85cents or ·1.20
Prices vary considerably from brand to brand and shop to shop; Spanish brands are much cheaper than imported products.

Average prices in my local supermarket are:-

LOAF OF BREAD 57 cents to 2 Euros
LITRE OF MILK 50 cents to 1 Euros
WATER (1.5 litre bottle) 20 cents to 1 Euro
EGGS 75 cents to 1.5 Euro per half dozen
CHICKEN - Pack of 4 Breast Fillets 5-7 Euro
ENTRECOTE STEAK - 10 - 13 Euro per kilo
LAMB Expensive
BEER 50cl can 50 cents to 1 Euro (Spanish) or 1.5-2.5 Euro (imported). Litre bottle of decent Spanish brand such as San Miguel around 1 Euro.
WINE (75cl Bottle) 75 cents upwards; very drinkable brands available from a couple of Euros upwards
SPIRITS (Litre Bottle) Brandy 6 Euros upwards with a reasonable Spanish brandy such as Soberano 7-8 Euros, GIN 8-13 Euros with an acceptable Spanish brand such as Larios around Euro 9-10, WHISKY more expensive.

Erm, I just visited Barcelona 2 weeks ago and paid 13 -15 euros a night for a bed (shared) in a hostel. Private rooms run up till 20 euros (assuming you do your research right) all across Barcelona. For my 13-15 euros I got free internet, great staff (the hostel actually got a 98% rating on www.hostelbookers.com), good showers, no curfew, located inside a good district (though not Las Ramblas). Might be more expensive in the high season but by no means should you pay 60 euros for a hostel.

I always use www.hostelbookers.com to find decent hostels/hotels. It charges no additional fees, you can make a reservation instantly and -most importantly- it uses a rating system, so you can see easily if a hostel is good. Have been using it for over 3 years now, and it has never let me down!

(There are several other websites like this. For instance www.gomio.com, www.hostelbooking.com which offer more or less the same.) Reply to this

Hey,

I was in Barcelona this summer and my friends and I rented an apartment in Borne. We rented it from a company called . They were very proffessional and the apartment was fully equipped and newly renovated... I can recommend renting a room or an apartment instead of a hotel since you wont spend much time in the room in a city like Barcelona!

Enjoy your stay!! 😊

if you are looking for an affordable place to stay try a cheap apartment barcelona. They average out about 30%!c(MISSING)heaper than a hotel and you have a kitchen to save money on eating out. There is the boquería on the ramblas where you can find all the fresh food you could want Reply to this

When I was studying Spanish in Barcelona I stayed at the apartments from http://www.apartmentsbcn.net. Actually it was two different apartments in the Eixample neighborhood. But they were both big, well equipped 1BR but could easily sleep three people. I had a hard time working out what neighborhoods in BCN might be good, but this map has a good description http://www.barcelonanet.org/barcelona_map.html

Hi Vivian,
I'm Silvia and I live in Barcelona. I have a nice flat two floors under me, in the Gracia district. The apartment has 3 bedroom, a complete kitchen, a bathroom and a livingroom. It's price is 120 euro per night. It's next to Passeig de Gracia boulevard, the best place of Barcelona to shooping, with metro, bus and train station at 5 minute walking. Also we can offer you my free assistant for your holidays. If you are interested don't hesitate contact me.
Happy holidays! Reply to this
