Hi all,

Yes, Sunwing has a sale on but it ends in October, I think. You can take the train from Toronto to Truro in Nova Scotia. Or take the bus. But it's a long, long ride.
The bus service in the Atlantic provinces gets you to North Sydney on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. If memory serves me correctly, it's Acadian Bus Lines. Then there is a ferry that takes you to either Port-aux-Basques or Argentia in Newfoundland. The run to Argentia is longer and gets you closer to St. John's but it is not in service all year. Once in Argentia or Port-aux-Basques, DRL buses get you to St. John's. If you just want to get to St. John's and not spend hours on a bus, fly! The weather in Newfoundland is capricious, to say the least. Storms and fog and wind can leave you stranded at sea, or on land for hours or days. Good luck.

Brian.
