Would like some advice about traveling to places in October.

Hi -

I am traveling to India in October and I have a list of places I want to visit on this trip (West / North India). My base will be in Gujarat and will be traveling to Rajasthan and then to Hardiwar/Riskikesh up towards Dharamsala / Shimla and hopefully Kullu before heading back to Gujarat.

This is just what I'm planning not saying I will be able to hit all the places in 3 weeks time.

I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to travel w/o wasting time (I've seen 7-14 days tours..too long, already been to Delhi, Agra and don't plan on going there again). Also, maybe a local tour guide?, best buses / routes ... anything would be helpful.

I am traveling solo, I've been to India before but have traveled with people, never ventured alone. I can speak Gujarati (hence my base) but not Hindi so solo traveling may be a bit tough.

Thanks in advance...
happy trekkin'

PS...if anyone will be in the vacinity in October and want to grab some coffee and discuss travels, let me know. Reply to this

Dear friend,
Really India is the amazing tourist place in the all over world with large ground.
I read here that you want to visit India but I didn’t find that where you want to exactly, If you don’t have any idea about India, really I can let you little bit information about India bcos I have recently traveled India although my complete tour was managed by an Indian travel company and we are very grateful that company for his best management.

If you have little bit idea about India than you can reserve self your tour otherwise you should contact to any Indian travel company for your travel package, I know about a company which I have used in my previous tour that s company name is Icon India Tours and webpage www.iconindiatours.com so you can contact for complete guideline and assistance.

Here I would like suggest to you some touristy Indian destination as well as by serial you would arrive at Delhi after Delhi - Agra - Jaipur - Pushkar - Udaipur - Ranakpur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Bikaner - Mandawa and Delhi, , my suggested tour is a just an idea bcos your complete tour would be depend on your travel duration. Although India has the many more famous place to visit but may be time short for you, so here I am suggesting most famous destination only.

I hope my above given information would be helpful for you.
Best of luck
Peter

Hi, Peter:

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. I have been to India before but not to tour, just to visit friends / relatives. This time, I'm going solo and would like to visit a few places, but the more I look at it, I think my itinerary may be a bit much for a span of 3 weeks.

Here's what I'm looking at:

Day 1 - 3/4 --> Gujarat
Day 4-5 --> Udaipur
Udaipur --> Jodhpur
Jodhpur --> Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer --> Jaipur
Jaipur --> Haridwar/Rishikesh
have to make a stop in Gurgoan
and then head north towards Shimla, Dharamsala and maybe even further.

The problems I really face are:

1) Should I end my trip at Gurgoan and return to Gujarat, spending 2 weeks (focusing on Rajasthan), or continue. I'm not sure what the temperature is like up North in October and what's available for me to do, whether it's trekking or visiting monasterys, temples, etc...

2) Not sure how many days I will need in each of the cities of Rajasthan, maybe a day each? if more, than where to stay, do I book in advance or can I find a place while I'm there. What's the best method of transportation between these cities, bus / train and again book in advance or the day off ( like I did for Europe a few hundred years ago)

Thanks for all the great advice.

Hi Hardeek,
If you have confusion about your itinerary why don't you contact some india based travel agent. They can be helpful to plan an itinerary as per your requirement.
