Hello all,

So, if you're living in the States then you've no doubt noticed the dramatic rise in oil and fuel prices over the last six months or so. What you probably have also noticed as avid travelers is that flight prices haven't really been driven up that much. The airlines have been finding other ways to make money, like charging more for baggage, cutting out amenities like meals, snacks, movies, etc. or simply by filling each flight to capacity and passing the responsibility of rearranging travel times to the consumer.

This is about to change.

Airlines are hurting so much that they NEED to raise prices in the coming months in order to stay in business. A number of airlines have already gone out of business due to their inability to compete with other forms of transportation (or simply with other countries that more heavily subsidize fuel costs).

BUY YOUR TICKETS SOON if you are planning on traveling on a popular, stable airline in the next year or so. I watched tickets to South America rise $60 a day round-trip for a flight 12 months from now. I bought them last week for $750 on Continental and this week they're over $1000.

If you're interested in saving money on flights, check the prices now, as they are poised to double in price before the summer is out according to some economists.

Just a friendly PSA! 😊

Sam

Certainly good advise to buy airline tickets as much in advance as possible to get the best prices. Not everybody on the same flight pays the same price. As the planes fill up the prices seem to go up. Reply to this
