Hello, everybody,Have a great News on --Tibet has re-opened to foreign tourists on June 25. and can accept Tibet tour bookings and provide Tibet travel permit now.So many people are interrested about tibet ,i think you'dbetter have a chance to look around here and listen to lical tibetean people.

I am a chinese.I love my country,But not means i tend to be partial towards China . Tibet is a complex problem, you'better find enough Both profiles to know the true situation.I have many students are tibeaten and many students went to tibet for providing local people opportunities on education. We never thought tibet is seperated or suppressed. And in fact tibet get more support than other chinese poor area.tibetean culture is also be protect well.

China is an ancient country, have 5,000 yesrs civilization and china is alwas a culture center beyong many centuries. we proud about that. But we know culture need communicate with others. No one is completely indepent. And most counties is compose by many race.Country is a region concept not a race concept.Did you think so? 😊

Hello Qiuwei 😊

I made a thread for your topic.
Can tourists travel independently in Tibet during the Olympics or do they have to be part of a tour?

Country is a region concept not a race concept.Did you think so? 😊

No, I dont think so. Boundaries of countries can and do move. New countries can be created. Two countries can be merged into one.

I think the most important is whether tibetean can live in respect.Whether tibaten is really need to be separeted?whether that's real tibeaten's expectance.

Another ,Tibet tourism is a window for more foreigners to know about tibet.Have a interesting video《tibet diary》,i suggest you download and have a look. My english is not good ,if have some places you can't understand please tell me. Reply to this

I have been told that at the moment the only way to enter Tibet is to join a tour group. So it looks like independent travel is not allowed in Tibet.
What a pity. I would love to go to Tibet, but I am not keen on tours.

What type of security reasons would there be that would not be in other countries where we can travel independently?
Cant the wild and barren places just have warnings when we enter that there are no modern conveniences in this area? Reply to this

Mell, example agent Surveying and mapping border, and this things has happend many times, you can find this things on internet. And did you know th real situation happend in Lhasa? Not only get information on western media but chinese or other media.Wish give these things and chinese a justic evaluation.I ever view BBC news during that time. Some clear proof shows on Tibet problem It‘s not justic and not real media should do.
And another word.I think you love to use Google earth, and for some security reasons ,not anyplace you can view.USA France and other countries all call to snipped some sensitive information for security reasons. Why china can't domain self things.

Cant the wild and barren places just have warnings when we enter that there are no modern conveniences in this area?

For another viewpoint, did you know Sichuan of china was hit by strong earthquake? When you know aftershock
will come, some people want to back home to get his things, whether just warning can prervent them? The best way is isolate the area.

Tibet was reopened to tourists on June 25th, 2008. Now, there are many changes in entering Tibet. You need to book your Tibet tour 15 days in advance.

To get a Tibet Travel Permit, you need to join in a tour group. No individual Permit will be issued now. You may fail to enter Tibet if someone of your tour group doesn't meet the requirements of Tibet Travel Agency.

Tibet Travek is a must if you want to travel to Tibet. you need a copy of your passport and China Visa to apply for the permit.

I'd love to go to Tibet, but equally as much as Mell I'm not so keen on being a part of a tour. And unfortunately the "wild and barren places" that are such an extreme security risk for poor naive westerners are exactly the sorts of places I would be wanting to frequent. Reply to this

what sort of things would be the cause of a person failing to meet the requirements of the Tibet Travel Agency?

If you are a journalist, a Tibetan who holds a passport of other nationalities, or on a blacklist of forbidden entering Tibet you are probably not allowed to enter Tibet. Besides, if you want to enter Tibet you'd better not talk about politics.

I think that is reasonable, like USA prevent terrorist enter USA,UK prevent Irish Republic Army .Keeping yourself from danger as distant as your possible is every goverment will do。

Besides, if you want to enter Tibet you'd better not talk about politics.

when you as a guest enter a family, would you talk about the most sensitive things to host? Why need do that, for what?

So we can find out if Tibettans want independence or not. If we ask them directly ourselves we wont have to rely on the the Western media which you say lies to us.

You said that tourism is a way for foreigners to get to know more about Tibet. How are we going to get to know if we cant talk with Tibettans about it? Reply to this

Hey, Mell, it is unfair to lock my thread. many people who wanna separate China enter Tibet to get something, then reedit it and show it wo the public so we have to forbid them to enter Tibet. Reply to this

I locked it because there is already this thread about the subject of Tibet being open for tourism. There is a link in this thread to the thread you started.
