For Europeans there are no border costs at any of the South American border crossings. Americans, I believe, are charged 100 USD for visas for Brazil and Bolivia. Not sure about other countries. Reply to this

That last sentence should read; not sure if other nationalities (outside of USA and EU) are charged for visas. Reply to this

Hello Ted 😊

I am not Canadian so I dont know if it will be the same for you but when I was in S. America I was charged a fee(I dont know what for) when crossing some borders. It was not a lot of money. A few Euros as far as I remember. If the border guards ask you for a fee, then it may be an idea to ask them for a receipt for the money to discourage them from charging more than they are supposed to .

Hi Ted, I am a Canadian that has been down here since January. Started in Ecuador, then Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile (back in Ecuador now and then heading to Columbia). I have not had to pay a single fee for bus crossings between any of those countries. However, you DO have to pay for Brazil...unfortunately....it is $79 if I remember correctly. If you depart any of the countries by plane...there are usually fees. But not by bus. Hopefully that answers your question. Reply to this
