If you are looking for a remote island experience, try Palawan in the Philippines. You can go either to the towns of Coron or El Nido but its best if you experience them all. Reply to this

You will not be dissapointed with Palawan especially Coron and El Nido. You may be a bit dissapointed with the rest of the Philippines though. I was, I just spent 6 months there and came home in April. Northern Palawan is Beautiful.

You didn't ask, but I think Thailand is cheaper than the Philippines! I have been in and out of the P.I. many times from when I was in the military to after I retired. Beer is cheaper in the Philippines though! But, in my opinion, if you pay the equivalent of $25 US for a hotel in Thailand you will get a much crappier hotel with less to offer for the same price in the Philippines. You have to compare city prices with city prices, country prices with country prices. You can find some bargains every now and then though.

Given a choice between the PI and Indonesia I would probably take the Philippines. The older I get the less I care about beaches and getting more sun spots on my face and arms! I haven't been back to Indonesia in 9 or 10 years but I have been to the Philippines recently.

Have a good trip. Reply to this

I would say the Philippines, visit Boaracay... It has always been voted as one of the top 10 beaches in the world.
