I have been following a trip that is still ongoing by a traveler whose nick is degrubs. His reports leave me between crying and laughing! Never a dull moment on the Trans-Siberian Express or on the ground in Mongolia. cmthomas

I have enjoyed Sean and Shannon's blog - their writing is fun and descriptive and they mention prices and descriptions of their meals which I find helpful.

JenniJen has also continued to impress me - it seems that her writing and photos get better and better the longer she travels. Reply to this

Cumberland Sausage is an amazing photographer and is really stoked about his camera (probably because it rocks) but definitely check it out. Sorry, I don't really read the entries though (no offense).

phabs journal is really good.

It’s quite a peculiar feeling... At first, you think someone bumped into the chair you’re sitting in, then you notice that the table is also moving, slightly, back and forth. Finally, you notice that everything surrounding you is also animated with the same rocking motion. I instinctively looked out the front door of the internet cafe where I was sitting to check if a heavy truck was passing-by, that’s when I noticed that I wasn’t the only one noticing. It reminded me of that cliché scene in horror movies in which the main characters are calmly going about their business when they notice vibrations in a glass of water, announcing the pending arrival of some sort of monster. Except that in this scenario, there are no resounding footsteps and no approaching monster: the earth itself is the villain.

Had a very similar experience in Xela (Quetzaltanengo, Guatemala). Reply to this

Would it not be possible to base all (or at least some) of the front page listings on the number of hits for that blogger in the last day/week/whatever, as that should be more representative of which blogs are proving popular? Or is there a worry that this would be abused? Reply to this

Yes - it is possible - but I have chosen not to do this. Some blogs get a huge number of hits from the search engines - not due to the quality but due to the popularity of a particular phrase. The quality is better when the featured blogs are hand picked - it isn't possible to read all the blogs anymore so we ask for suggestions here. Reply to this

I was wondering how you add other bloggers' photos to the best viewed travel photos - have trouble figuring it out. Reply to this
