The whole family joined in the trading outings to the boats.

Even though this boat had an engine on it, they had to paddle instead as many did not work.

We did get to use our sails some while on the Manamo River which was a nice treat.

The water hyacinths are beautiful when in bloom but they definitely do get thick on the river.

A view inside a small cano that we explored by dinghy. The mangroves grow quite thick here.

The hyacinths needed to be cleared from around the boat before we could pull up the anchor.

This village had very nice walkways between the homes that kept them above the water. It was one that the government helped build for them.

We found that this was an interesting way to paddle a boat, from the bow instead of the stern – it worked!

We had a chance to visit the family that lived in this home.

He was showing us how he threw his fishing net. Denis tried it and found it was not that easy to do.

Taking care of baby and bailing out the boat is a full time job when in these dugouts.

Our dinghy is working well getting us back and forth to shore and we helped taxi our friends with us.

This shows that they keep their beds off the floor as they get flooded every month at the time of the full moon.
