We decided to spend an afternoon in Uruguay... we need more visa stamps in our passport and we wanted to get 2 extra stamps. We took the express ferry to a colonian town called Colonia del Sacramento. It was defnitely worth the trip. The historical part has been preserved intact since the colonial era. The district has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. We had some problems with the ferry company on our way back and had to argue to get our ticket (even if we had already paid). They made a mistake in their system and apprently we had already taked the ferry back to Buenos Aires a few hours before. (maybe they thought we decided to swim back to Colonia...!) We thought for an hour or two that we may be stuck in Uruguay in a small village of about 1,000 inhabitants! We finally managed to get a spot in the ferry and went back to Buenos Aires. We picked up our suitcases at Olga's and headed to Cordoba.. for another long night bus trip.
