Hi,

Today I woke up nice and early to walked to the bus station to book up our tickets to Montevideo, it was a 2 hour bus drive and cost about $300 peso.

We had a free breakfast of bread and marmalade. It was ok, standard breakfast in SA, I can’t wait for a bacon sandwich!!

Our bus was at 1100 so we just packed up, got the last of the good Wi-Fi and headed to the bus station; we also made sure that we could book up another night here in Hostel el Espanol for when we come back in a day as it was a good hostel (and the cheapest one in Colonia).

The bus was no problem, just that it stops a lot and ends up with people stood close to you, this is annoying as they don’t realize your personal space is being occupied by their arse!!!

We had loaded up the maps in Vicks phone for getting to the hostel, however we saw two bus terminals one close to our hostel the other was 2 miles away, guess which one we ended up in…that’s right a 2 mile walk for us. HAHA

The walk was ok as it was along the main high street, Vick saw loads of shops she wanted to look at (like normal) and we found a cheap restaurant filled with locals so stopped to have lunch. Lunch was good as I had a steak and a glass of wine for £6 and Vick had a pizza, both were good.

We found the hostel quite easily and checked in; we thought we had a 12 bed dorm but got put in a 6, which is always a bonus. The majority of the people are Spanish unfortunately, as most don’t speak English. We updated our FB and checked in with family, then headed out to explore Montevideo. As it was the early evening we just went along the high street and looked at shops and the buildings, we had all of the next day to explore too. Vick brought some knickers as it was cheap and I sat around a lot!! HAHA

We decided to cook dinner at the hostel as it was cheaper, so we went to the local Disco (supermarket). We brought some pasta and cooked up a sauce for dinner and lunch the next day, and of course we bought wine and beer.

We chilled out in the evening watching English TV in Spanish (trying to learn Spanish but its so hard).

Eventually we went to bed, watched a “supernatural” and hit the hay.

Love N&V X
