These are from the last few weeks in Huancayo, very high in the Andes. We had an underground BBQ called a Pachamanca, where rocks are heated over a fire, then collapsed and meat, potatoes, tamales, and vegetables are buried in the hot rocks for an hour. The grandpa has a farm, a few potatoes - he grows many types. he has chickens, pigs, cows. he is not young! but what a worker

Dig a hole, build a fire, balance large rocks over it till they get red hot. Collapse all, put food on rocks in layers. wait 1 hr, unpile all the rocks and eat the food!

When he's not farming, he is up at 5am to clean out the chicken coop, and start his traditional weaving
