Cajamarca
In the last 3 weeks I have not been keeping in touch much and I apologise for that. The reason is that after the playa blanca project, all the volunteers left except so things got really quiet, then a new group arrived and we ststarted building 5 blades like chain work cause we are going to replace some broken ones. I have entered a bit of a routine so not much new to talk about. However, I did go up in the mountains earlier this month to visit the group of students that had been building their turbines in August with us, they stayed 3 weeks in the mountains to install 2 big turbines. That was nearish the city of Cajamarca. On the day I spent up in the community we them, we had to install the wiring in the school that received the turbine and Jessica ( cofounder of windaid) had to find some community members that would take responsibility for the turbine and learn how to fix it. This is a new location so they had to be taugh everything. I also learnt that the idea is that windaid will help fix things for two years but after that,

they have to learn to be independent. So there is a treasurer collecting money from everyone every month and that will be used to fix anything in the future. Also our host who welcomed us in his home, will come down to Trujillo next year to learn how to build a turbine and therefore how to fix it. It was really interesting to see a new community receiving a turbine cause Playa Blanca where I was last month is used to seeing windaid coming and going. It was also very nice to see he Edinburgh students again!
When I got back to Trujillo, the new volunteer group was already here, 4 of them. The house is not as full as it was in the summer months but it's nice to have people around again.
I am just spending weekends at the Beach of Huanchaco nearby for now. We are two weeks in with the new group's project so they have one more week of building and then we are off to playa blanca again.
Take care all
