Week 2 has gone so fast, we have made good progress on the turbine!

We have filled the rotor with resin (that's the one with the magnets). When that dried, we sanded it and put a protective layer of paint on the metal parts to reduce corrosion.
We finally finished rolling these coils, all 6 of them, and connected them together into the stator by melting a bit of metal on the wires. We then filled it with resin too and left it over the weekend to dry.

The blade has now been sanded, we drilled four holes in it. It will need to be balanced before we paint it.

We started preparing the parts for the metal structure that will hold the turbine together.

On Tuesday, I was taken to another project in Chocofan because I will be here for 3 months, this was a taster on the education side of the project. Two permanent staff, Jessica and Gean were there to teach the teachers of the school how the turbine that was installed last January works. We then went to another community project where Tyne turbine has a problem so Gean was testing the battery

In the weekend, we got Friday off so we just enjoyed being around Trujillo. On Friday, we went to visit the Huacas de la Luna which are ruins from 4000 years ago. Every time there was a new government, the whole church would be filled with bricks and a new floor would be built, we can now see five floors. But these ruins are long to excavate due to lack of funding. It was really pretty though and impressive to be there. After that we went to the SPA hehe. It has a warm pool and a sauna so was nice and relaxing.

I went to the beach in Huanchaco on my own on Saturday because everyone else gave up due to the waves being too high(they wanted to surf). It is lovely seaside, very different from the seaside in Trujillo that I had shown you on the first day post.

Sunday I played football with the boys against the locals, apparently they we te expecting to destroy us but we defended ourselves ok, still lost though by one point. After that we went to the beach in Huanchaco.

All in
