Here we are! Here is the skyline of the city at night-

Yesterday in Puerto Maldonado was marginally better. We attempted to go to a guidebook recommended Butterfly House only to be told that it wasn´t open, and that if we were tourists it was $25 US dollars. A piece!! Yikes. So we walked down to Serpentario, which was a neat display of local snakes and amphibians. They also had a blind ocelot which is like a little jaguar.

It was neat to see a lot of different snakes and frogs as well, we even got to hold an Anaconda or two )baby ones!) Which apparently get quite large

We spent the rest of the time trying to find a restaurant to eat in, having people glare at us, and sweating while watching US TV. We flew out uneventfully and are now in Miraflores, Lima, Peru. Our hostel seems nice enough and we have a busy week ahead of us with planned activities then home on Sunday. My mom said it was negative 25 in Des Moines, which doesn´t sound very nice any more. So, we´ll report back on our Ballestas Island adventure that starts tomorrow with a bus ride to Paracas and an overnight in a swanky hotel for Tyler and My´s 2 year anniversary. Yay! Adios, stay warm.
