Edit Blog Post
The english version is just a little further down...

To prevent a flood of SMS, emails and telefones (I do not mean that I do not like to have contact!): I´m fine, "nothing" happened. It was just an earthquake of the strenght of around 5 here in Lima (well 7 at the centre of it), where I´m currently at. I was inside an internet cafe updating the blog as it took place. All the people run to the outside, and I was struggling to do so as well because as far as I know most people are hurt by falling pieces of buildings and not buried under crushing buildings. Anway, I logged out and went back to my homestay family so that they know where I´m at and how I´m doing. On the TV we saw then that it was more serious in other parts of the country.
And now that I already started I can write a little more, "in advance". I flew out of Phoenix to Lima via Mexico

In one of the parks along the shore. City (just stopover) on the 1st to 2nd of August. The arrival here was a "shock" in two ways. In terms of temperature and of culture. While in Phoenix it was terribly hot (even though I had luckely some "cool" days) and most things are well organized, it is here quite cool with 15 Degres Celsius. And as soon as I left the airport I was surrounded by cabdrivers that wanted to give me a ride. I took the one that showed me a flyer of a hostel in Miraflores (quarter in Lima). While driving we tried to have a conversation but I was in lack of spanish. Anyhow we managed to exchange stuff like "where do you come from" by using gesticulation and the littele bit left of my french learned in school. But it showed me very clearly: I´m not getting far here without spanish (what I already expected). Probably because of my bad spanish I paid about the double than an other tourist that I learned to know later in the (good!) hostel. That´s part of the reason why I decided to take spanish classes for 2 weeks here in Lima. And this is the reason why
VW Käfer - Beatle
Die sieht man hier noch recht häufig. Der hier ist in relativ gutem Zustand...
They´re quite common here. This one is in fairly good shape... my last blogg entry is still not published because I take the classes very serious. And meanwhile I´m able to order something to eat, order a cab an talk a little, even thought the past is still missing. But I think there's time to come. I stay with a very, very kind host family which cooks for me very delicious peruvian food, shows Lima a little to me and pays patiently attention to my trys in spanish and helps with it as well. You see, I´m doing very well! Probably I´ll leve Lima around the next weekend...
