Aji de gallinaThis is my favorite Peruvian dish...and Lorenza's speciality! She cooked it for me on Saturday. I think I love it so much because it tastes a lot like "my casserole" that my mom makes. : )
Liz and Mimi!Saturday night there was a quincenera at the church, so it was fun to get all dressed up for Kiara's big night. Turning 15 here is a BIG deal (like in most countries in Latin America)
Waiting and waiting...All of Kiara's friends lined the entrance to wait for her to arrive!
Kiara! There are lots of different parts to a quincenera...here Kiara is explaining the significance of her roses. It was a beautiful night!
Damaris!I'm going to miss Damaris a lot! Such a sweet person.
AguaDamaris and I went to the Parque de las Aguas last week!
Go!!!This is the fountain where you can walk between the streams of water...but only at certain times. If you don't get the timing right, you'll get soaked.
Dancin' the polkaFor the Fiesta Patrias at Marisu and Mafer's school, different classes performed different dances. Here Marisu is dancing the polka with her little classmate!
Gift shoppingNo worries, no one will be receiving this....
Vaya con Dios Hi Liz - thanks for your periodic updates this summer - they've helped me feel a continued connection with all the folks we met there, particularly the CAMBIALO kids in La Oroya and the members of the IEP Mirones Bajo.
Safe travels back to the USA and may you have continued learning, fun and many blessings this year in seminary.
