Choquequirao so odkrili ze 2 leti pred Machu Picchu, vendar so zaradi lazje dostopnosti raje vlagali v Machu Picchu - beri: da prides do Choquequirao moras celga hudica prehodit!!!

We came to Cusco (altitude 3300m) after a long 17 hours bus ride from Ica. We spent a few days in Cusco exploring the Inca ruins such as Tambo Machay, Puka Pukara, Quenqo and Sacsayhuaman (1st day) and Chinchero, Ollantaytambo, Salinas and Moray (2nd day). Overall Cusco is really nice town with A LOT of things to do and you can easily spend 2 weeks there...but you know how it is, we never have enough time😊
So the big surprise was (also for us) that instead of Machu Picchu we decided to rather see a different "lost city of the Incas" Choquequirao

Plaza de Armas
- more remote, less touristic and more fun! The trek was 3nights, 4 days and definitely more difficult than we taught.
Just a few facts:
1st day: Start at Cachora at 12am, first 10km are flat, next 9 km descend down to the camp near the river where we spent the night.
2nd day: Start walking at 6am. First half an hour descent to the river...then the tough part starts: 5hours uphill (most of the time by the angle of 50 degrees or more😊. Lunch at the camp side, and then continue walking (2h) to Choquequirao. We had 2 great hours at the site (just the 5 of us) and then walked back to the camp with the torches.
3rd day: Descent for 3 hours to the river and another 1 very tough hour uphill to the camp where we had lunch. After siesta another 2 hours uphill to the camp where we spent the last night.
4th day: Start early in the morning, 2 hours up the hill, followed by 10km slow and flat walk back to Cachora.

Overall the trek was very worth it! We were a great group, 3 french and us, very good agency (Yupi

adventures) guide Dimas. We had 5 horses for ourselves, a cook Feli and "horseman" Domingo. The best of all was being at the site, quiet, alone, enjoying the sunset.

When we came back to Cusco we treated our self with jacuzzi and 1,5h massage...5 years anniversary😊 Great week! Enjoy the pics!
