As Dave Mathews said, don't drink the water...the Inca water systems are still running 600 years after their creation...but the water would very likely lead to grumbly, rumbly bellies...so no drinking.

A temple that was set up to receive the sun on the Solstices, both summer and winter through the windows and onto the alter. The alter has grooves to let the blood from the ritual llama sacrifices run out and down the channels.

The stone here is set to point North and as a result many of the buildings were set in a specific direction.

The mountain across from Machu Pichu was carved into Machu Pichu as part of it, they simply left a section of the mountain, and carved the profile of the other mountain into it. You can see that it crudely mimics the mountain in the background. Pretty neat.

These steps once went to a building no longer there, these are 600 year old steps that are worn with use.

I had around 36 bites on my ankle from black flies and as a result my calf swelled up so badly I could barely see my ankle...not a great photo but you get the idea.

An absolutely perfect way to finish our Inca Trail trek. Me, Pen, Ally, and Jo in natural hot springs, and with a cold beer....what a great experience!
