We went from Lake Titicaca to Cusco on Wednesday 11 May. From there we started the Inka Jungle Tour to Machu Picchu. It is an alternative tour to the overrun Inka Trail, that leads through the really stunning jungle landscape around Machu Picchu...
On the first day we went down a really scenic road per Mountainbike. Day 2 lead us on a nice 8hrs walk through jungle and canyons. On day 3 we went on to the nice little hidden village "Agua Calientes" that is the next village to the Machu Picchu site. From there we took a hike up a steep hill, from where it is possible to enjoy a nice view on Machu Picchu from the distance. On the last day we got up early at 4am in order to be up at the Machu Picchu by sunrise, which is really amazing. We spent the rest of the day on Machu Picchu and climbed further to Wayna Picchu, the steep hill next to the Machu Picchu City.
All in all an amazing tour through a really beautiful landscape!
Cusco laid at about 3500m altitude is a nice city, that has been of great importance in the
Inka Imperium, what one can really feel when walking through the streets as many of the anxious walls are still existing. As it is the hopping-off-point to Machu Picchu it is quite a bit touristy of course... but well, you can enjoy yourself well there 😊
Greets!
