Machu Picchu, la Vieille Montagne - The Old Mountain

Le Machu Picchu… Ce nom qui nous fait tant rever. Et bien ca y est, je l´ai vu de mes yeux vus a l´aube du 4e et dernier tour de notre randonnee dans les Andes.
C´est en passant par le Porte du soleil que l´on l´a vu la premiere fois. Un peu decevant caro n pouvait voir la route et les bus qui arrivaient pour decharger leer passagers… Ceux qui n´ont pas fair le trek de 4 jours… Mais bon!
C´est une fois a l´interieur de cette cite “perdue” que la magie commence vraiment. C´est un enorme endroit, avec des maisons partout (maison de nobles, de paysans, de rois, de princesses Incas…), des terrasses, bien-sur et des temples dedies aux dieux du soleil et de la lune. Il y a aussi des instruments astronomiques pour observer les etoiles incroyables de precision…
Et puis pour finir en beaute, on a decide de monter en haut du mont Waynapicchu, 2634 metres. On n´etait pas obllige mais l´occasion s´est presentee donc comme ca faisait 4 jours qu´on etait partis, autant en profiter! Et bien ca a ete dur! Les marches sont super raides et ca monte a pic! Une fois en haut, il ne faut pas etre sujet au vertige car c´ets vraiment a flanc de montagne. Un peu de sensations fortes pour terminer le Chemin de l´Inca j´imagine, et avec une vue impresionante dur le Machu Pîcchu et la vallee qui l´entoure. Ca a vraiment ete la cerise sur le gateau! Je suis trop fier de moi!

Machu Picchu… This name that makes you wonder and dream… Well I saw it! Really! At the end of the 4th day of the trek in the mountains…
Going through the Sun Gate, we had a first far glimpse of it … and the road and ther buses leading to it from the bottom of the valley, which takes a little bit of the magic away…
But once inside the city, that´s when the real magic kicks in! It´s huge. It´s got houses (for the King, the nobles, the peasants and a princess!), terraces (of course!) and temples to worship the god of the sun and the moon, and formidable astronomical instruments to observe stars (and they are incredibly accurate, it´s unbelievable!).
And to finish our trek with something REALLY big we decided to climb the mount Waynapicchu (2634 metres high), just behind the city. We didn´t have to but after 4 days, it wouldn´t have been complete without that last trek! Well, that was hard! It is very steep and the stairs are just only carved sometimes in the mountain! Once at the top, it is so high that it makes you feel quite uncomfortable (especially me - I´m scared of heights!). The paths are really on the edge... But hey, what an amazing sensation and a fantastic view over Machu picchu and the valley.
What a feeling, as the song say! Finishing the 4 days like this was amazing. What a great feeling of achievement. I am so proud of myself!
