Hey People,
After a bit of a lie in, we were both feeling a little better, the head-ache was gone but still short on breath if I climbed the stairs or the ladder on to the top bunk-I feel very unfit!
The free breakfast was just bread and jam so Neil got some scrambled eggs to have as well, which he shared with me!!!
This morning we followed the Lonely Planet city tour, which was about 4km around all the main sites, markets and little alleys. There are great craft shops with the colourful blankets, bags, hair bobbles-any accessory but with gorgeous multiple coloured patterns. I really wanted a huge blanket for £12, which is so cheap, but it is just carrying it. I will get one before I go but am going to wait until Bolivia as I’ve been told it’s cheaper there. My breathing was elevated for the entire walk, which is worrying as we have a very big walk coming up in two days!
It is very much like south east Asia as markets all sell fake clothes cheap but it is nice to walk around
and see still.
We found a museum we wanted to go to however it was shut, this old lady was there trying to explain it to us in Spanish but we had no idea apart from mañana which is tomorrow!! She sold us some amazing fudge really cheap too!!!
There is a big festival going on in Cusco ATM but even after asking people they could not explain what it was for, there were loads of people dressed up dancing and parading, it was so great to be a part of it.
There are loads of artists walking around Cusco trying to sell there art, it is really good quality and they start by saying 1 sole a picture but once you start looking the price goes up…we really wanted some but it would be even more weight to carry.
The building around Cusco are really impressive, they are all 200 years old from the Spanish conquest days and the lay out of the city is great with large open squares to relax or party as it is at the moment.
We stopped off for
lunch at ‘Jack’s Café’, which had a queue at the door so we thought it must be a good place to get lunch! It was good, we thought we’d comfort eat again and treat ourselves to a steak sandwich, it was really good the steak was such good quality.
We really want to try guinua pig as it’s a delicacy here but we saw a cooked one out on a table and looks horrible but we are going to man up and try it at some point!!! (See the pic of it!!!)
We headed back to the hostel to watch a film and chill out, Neil got me to watch an old black and white classic ‘Some like it hot’, it was really good and glad Neil keeps pushing these films on me!! (Still not star wars though!!!)
We played some pool after, chatted to a few people and had dinner in the hostel as we get 20% for some reason, we both had chicken and mushroom risotto, and it was really good. We decided to go for a night walk to walk the food off and found it was still
busy at night. We walked into a large street show, it was kind of a gay show but funny and made Neil’s day, as there was a midget in it!! However they tried talking to us in the crowd in (really fast) Spanish (we stick out as white tourists) in front of about 150 people and then as we couldn’t answer he said something and everyone laughed L guess we were the joke!!!
We got back to the hostel and chilled out in the room, I read while Neil watched the Brazil – Peru game in the bar, Peru lost in injury time-disappointing for everyone in the bar!!
We watched a Jim Jefferies stand up and a GOT before bed, we wanted a lie in in the morning, as we didn’t have to check out till 12!!
Love V&N xxx
