Dec. 28-29Beach trip!!! Ocean survival 101 The whole house (my parents'house) was up at 5am, busily getting all their siebensachen (German for this and that) together to hit Mejia, our favourite beach. My parents had rented a beach house for two days to stay at in the night and for my Dad to hide from the unforgiving conditions of the beach during the day. We were lucky enough that when we arrived at the beach house the district of Mejia had decided to cut running water for the day. So we had to rely on the water stored in the rooftop tank of the neighbouring house which was rented out by a couple my parents know. Then our descent to the beach. Greetings and happy New Year to all. I received an extremely lovely and heart-felt voicemail from my dearest high school friend, Amy (aka Ms. Baskin-Robbins). It made me realize that many of you may not know I’ve returned to South America for a few more months of frolicking. If you do already know this fact, then please bare with me as I take a few lines to ‘xplain. My original trip down here was supposed to end after Machu Picchu. 22nd April 2009 - 25th April 2009 Now some of you may laugh at the idea that travelling can be tiring, but it honestly is. Feeling worn out we decided to head to Arequipa's top holiday destination (to be fair you can't really say you've experienced a country without mixing it with the locals). We headed to the coast with the intention of doing nothing and that is exactly what we did. It was ace. We stayed in a hotel that cost the same as some of the hostels we had stayed at, although the bathroom stunk of egg (Alex got the blame but it honestly wasn't him!!!).
