Neskor sme dostali krasnu lekciu z byrokracie. K Itaipu tiez patri rezervacia Tatu Yupi, ktoru sme chceli navstivit. Povodne sme si chceli zobrat autobus z asi 3 km vzdialeneho mesta a odtial kracat asi pod hodinku.
Pred vstupom sme museli vypisat ziadost a okrem ineho uviest poznavacie cislo auta, ktore sme samozrejme nemohli vediet.
Today we went to see probably one of the greatest structures of Paraguay - Itaipu dam which lies on a river Parana and which was proclaimed as one of the wonders of a modern world. This power plant covers 80 % of entire electricity consumption of Paraguay and aproximately 30 % of Brazil which own half of it. At the peak of construction work, it received a 30 ton of cement every 5 minutes, 24 hours a day during 4 years. The amount of metal and iron used here would be enough to build 380 Eiffel towers. To visit this site
independentlywas of course impossible, so we had to register at the recepcion, where they firstly let us watch a feature movie. Despite amazing numbers and statistics a lot of people consider this to be a ecological disaister. Many animals died here or lost their homes and also waterfall bigger then Iguazu were sacrificed. here they tell u just the good things... The visit was mostly on a bus from which they let us leave every now and on to take some pictures. It was really a massive building, to walk around it would take a few hours. Later we got the lesson from bureaucracy. There was a Tatu Yupi reservacion which belongs to Itaipu and which we wanted to visit too. Originally we wanted to take a bus from a town 3 km from it and then walk last 30 minutes. We were immediately warned than it is prohibited to walk there, only way to get there is by a car. Therefore we decided to go to that town and to take a taxi from there and that was a huge problem. Before entering this reservation everyone has to fill up a form and also a number plate of the
car used for transportation there, which we of course couldnt know. Other option was to pay for a taxi directly from the recepcion, which was 20 km away. We didnt like it a lot and rather decided not to go there - we have seen plenty of parks anyway. Rest of the day we spent mostly lying under the air conditioner, the heat here is unbelievable.
