So today we went to a horse parade for Saint Pedro. It was really fun, David invited us last night, when we invited him, his wife, his sister, and thier kids over for a little birthday party for Damaris. David and his son were riding in the parade, so his sister (Lorena) and a friend of the family (Daisy) showed us around. It was pretty crazy, lots of street venders and stuff, I bought a really nice suede cowboy hat for $11.50! Everyone was drinking paraja azul with milk, people just kept offering it to us and eventualy Vashti and I tried some. It was really sweet (probably condensed milk, or they just added sugar) and had a bit of licorice taste to it, like sambuca.
The parade was fun, lots of people in traditional dress dancing. The horses would often walk sideways, to make the crowd back up and give room, and then some of them would do tricks. I don´t know horse trick terminology, but they´re rear up and others would sort of ´dance´back and forth. It was really entertaining, but after awhile I think it hurt the horses, lots of thier hooves were bleeding near the end of

The day we arrived in Canduya the parade. I try not to think about that though.
Afterwards we went to David´s grandparents´house and had cuy (guinea pig). It was delicious! apparently they maranade it for a day or more and then roast. It was really fatty, but the fat easily separated from the meat so was good. It tasted a bit like chicken, but with a bit of gameynss like goat. Yum. His mother also invited us over for dinner on Friday after Carmen´s graduation and I suspect cuy will be on the menu.
We´ll be in town every night this week, so hopefully I can get caught up on the photos and movies.
I´ll attach some pictures from Canduya.
