Met the Meat
Looks appealing, doesn´t it? I´m afraid to eat anything here now! I knew I had to stick out to the Ecuadorians here because I kept my hand over my mouth to keep from throwing up and over my nose to keep from smelling it. YUCK!! Sorry that I couldn´t publish my work yesterday, but the system was failing for me, so here is my beautiful work that I´m sure you all are waiting for anxiously. The good news, though, is that you get to read two blogs in two days! Yay! Alright let me tell you about my weekend.
Saturday (6-24)
On this beautiful morning I woke only to have my stomach twisted and twirled inside my body. Or at least that´s what it felt like. We went to three different markets, all of which made me want to vomit. I had never seen meat hanging out the way they have it here in Ecuador. I can´t explain it. Or maybe I just don´t want to...thinking about it makes the disgusting fumes fill my nostrils yet again and turn my face green, sending goosebumps all over my body. So I´ll just let my picture talk for me. It was completely different and unlike anything I´ve ever seen or done, and I actually liked the market, and the people there. Well Señor Loyola and I spent a good portion of the morning out shopping and when we returned home, the others were just
Whose the real Chicken?
Considering I couldn´t hardly get the nerve to take this picture, I would consider myself to be the chicken. But here you have the inside of a chicken...yumm-yumm, am I hungry. NOT waking. Poor things...the good news is that they´re getting better from their sicknesses! Thanks for all the prayers.
After such a "beautiful" sight, we all ate a little something before heading off to Banco de Guayaquil, located inside of Riocentro. While the Loyolas sorted things out, I couldn´t resist the urge for icecream and a new dress. So that´s just what I did! Now I don´t have to worry about my buying my graduation dress that I´ll be wearing...in 9 months! Oh well, it´s good for me because usual I wouldn´t have bought until the night before. Now all I need is my prom dress! Wish me luck.
More shopping lay ahead of us after everyone was done at Riocentro. Off to MegaMaxi we went to buy more groceries for the week. We took everything home and got ready to go out yet again for lunch.
We went to a nice, patriotic resturant called Pique y Pase and had a delicious lunch of steak, rice, and plantans. It filled me right up! The building was covered in yellow, blue, and red and there were flags proudly strung about the whole resturant, inside and out.
Upon our
Everywhere
On every street corner there´s always at least one person selling something. Whether it´s fruit, shirts, flags, calling cards, magazines, dvds, jewlery, etc, they´re there. This one just happened to look exceptional... return home we all mellowed out on our full bellies for about an hour and then headed back out to Riocentro. Well, just us girls went. Señora Loyola had a manicure/pedicure appointment, so I escorted her to that while Dora went our to get gas and buy face paint for the big game the next morning. While we were in beauty salon talking, Señora Loyola convinced me to get my hair trimmed. Don´t worry Daddy, it´s not much. Oh man, I can just see you face now, and trust me when I say it´ll be ok. Don´t forget that my hair grows fast too! I really, really like it. It´s too long now, though it´s still longer than most peoples. If it´s any consulation to you, Daddy, Señor Loyola didn´t even notice a difference. Though I got it layered and styled and I love it, and I know you will too.
Visitors came a little while after we arrived back home. Andrea and Jorge Louis came and stayed for the evening. It was very pleasant. When they left to go home, Sr and Sra Loyola headed off to bed, and Dora and I went upstairs to watch movies and
Hair
Well, this is my new haircut. Not a big difference, but of course, like everyone else I have to say...it feels different. But I love it! talk. We did this while eating baby food. Yes, that´s right...and it was good. I´m talking to you, G. The fruit mix, not banana cream...I don´t know what we ever saw in that. I remember that being phenominal, but I wouldn´t describe it like that now. Well after a great movie ended, we headed off to bed ourselves to await the next, new, exciting day.
Sunday (6-23)
No juice on Sundays. You wake, you dress, and you go to Church. Again, I had a nice time at Church and enjoyed the company of pleasant people, though it was very hard to understand the lesson being taught there. With time...it shall come to me.
By the time Church was over, my tummy was ready to eat. And that is exactly what we did. We went to a beautiful, little resturant called El Patacon, and ate the same thing we did yesterday at Pique y Pase, only this time with an egg and something called a balon, filled with I don´t know what, but it was good. I ate my food with a glass of handmade juice and Ecuadorian hot chocolate. Mmm-mmm!
Since the big soccer
Magical
Parts of the streets in Guayaquil are just so gorgiously paved in bricks and surrounded by incridible vegetation. *Classy* game was today vs. England, Dora and I bought tickets to see the game at the theater in Riocentro. The game started at 10 here, so we had to rush back to the house to change and get "painted" up for the big game! It was an exciting game and I´ve never been so proud of such an amazing team. Although Ecuador is done now, I´ll never forget this team and what they added to my stay here in Ecuador this summer. It was really crushing to see them lose because they played such an amazing game. It wasn´t like ...yuuup, they got killed. They were playing right there with England and doing so great! I´ll have to come back in four years to experience this again.
Dora and I played ping-pong on the first floor outside. We had to take down my nap-time hammock in order to play, but it was so much fun! We must have played for over an hour, and when we were finished we definetly need showers!
After we were both clean, we went downstairs to help Señor Loyola make dinner. We had soup, rice, potatoes, and lettuce. I made the drink, haha.
Up on the Roof top
I felt like Santa up there. Only I was taking pictures, not handing out presents. Though it´s a pretty sight to see, don´t you agree? Hey, but at least it was good and everyone enjoyed it!
Now, it´s getting late and since the site was down earlier it just keeps getting later and later for me here. So off I go and will talk to you all soon!
Until next time,
Shir

Copa Mundial
It's hard to see Ecuador go. You're absolutely right, though; they played an amazing game. If only Delgado had scored on his breakaway! Too bad Beckham can bend the ball so well... England may have gotten through to the quarterfinals, but I have a gut feeling that Portugal may give them more trouble than they're ready for. Germany v. Argentina is going to be an awesome show. Both teams are extremely skilled. I'd like to see the Cinderella team, Ghana, advance, but Brazil is definitely the favorite between the two teams. I'd also like to see Spain defeat France, although it will be good to watch Zidane work his magic once more. With that said, I hope that we don't see a repeat of the 2002 World Cup Final, with Brazil v. Germany. All I know is that I need to stock up on some baby food so that I can appease my infantile taste as I consume game after game of world-class soccer. It's almost too good to be true. By the way, is it the Gerber's brand or another? Haha, be well and take care. Love, G
