I first came to Ecuador in the late 1980's to teach English in Quito. I fell in love with this country, the natural beauty, the warmth and generosity of the people. I went on to work in international education on nearly every continent, but Ecuador kept calling me back. This Chicago girl has a "latina soul"! Watercolors on a Rainy Day

During my travels with Eva, it rained most every day. We had a creative afternoon of watercolor painting at Susan's house while waiting for the skies to clear. Mine is the one above the orange flower.

I became utterly fascinated by the complex patterns and designs created by the ready-to-unfurl leaf on this subtropical plant.

A fabulous butterly enclosure is atwitter and aflutter with thousands of colorful mariposas.

Just beside the butterflies we viewed dozens of elegant orchids.

Taxo is a delicious fruit, and the flowering vines are heavenly!

Guess what kind of food they sell at this fast food joint? A flap opens behind his ears for waste disposal!

Here's a variation on the theme...so many clown head waste receptacles, but this guy stands out in a crowd!
