As I dive into this March and April blog entry, let me start by saying "It feels so wonderful to be fully healthy again!!" I first came to Ecuador in the late 1980's to teach English in Quito. I fell in love with this country, the natural beauty, the warmth and generosity of the people. I went on to work in international education on nearly every continent, but Ecuador kept calling me back. This Chicago girl has a "latina soul"! Another borrowed pic...my house is up the deep gorge on the right - the Bascun River Valley that leads right up to the base of the volcano!

Three doors down from me, the little hummingbird on the far left carries a morning glory in its beak, headed up towards my house.

Shana's aging kitty ChiChi stays close by whenever we're playing Scrabble (usually at least twice a week!)

Hidden Almuerzo Restaurant

One of our fave places to go for a $3 set menu lunch is in the back room of this house. Love the hanging orange honeysuckle flowers!
